Tristan da Cunha, a tiny volcanic island of less than 100 square kilometres discovered by the Portuguese navigator of the same name in 1506, is the setting for the story of a community that settled on this remote island and passed down, over generations, its idealistic founding principles of equality and sharing. The book is the culmination of a long documentary project during which the photographer lived in immersion with the community.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
