The book presents the emblematic series by Ishimoto (1921–2012), combining the formal approach of Chicago’s New Bauhaus with the quintessence of Japanese aesthetics. It lets us rediscover a photographer who published very little in his lifetime: the singularity of his vision and his work on the motif, sometimes to the point of abstraction, made him a key figure of postwar photography in both Japan and the United States.
