Two major photographers, two Septembers at the opposite poles of Chilean history. In September 1971 Depardon went to Santiago to capture the effervescence after the 1970 election of the socialist president Salvador Allende, before continuing south; two years later, in September 1973, David Burnett photographed the coup that overthrew him. The book recounts the events through two leading figures of photojournalism.
