Tokyo nights are full of toys for grown-ups: dolls, costumes, threads and needles, masks and fancy dress. For about three years, from 2007 to 2010, Paweł Jaszczuk cycled into the metropolis's nightlife to find swinger clubs, couple kissas and private sex parties, and photographed their guests as they lived out their fantasies, deliberately taking the role of the voyeur. Shot with extremely light-sensitive film on a Leica, the images show the physicality of dominance and submission and a round of tradition and pop, pain and desire, sex and taboo.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
