This project happened as a coincidence; it emerged when I looked back at my archive and realised I had photographed many Ukrainian travelling women in the past months. The connection between us was instant — these women embodied a mesmerising mixture of power and fragility, a kind of truth I am always searching for in people. Though they are constantly on the move, our paths crossed. I used my camera to peer into their glowing, restless souls, pressing it against the charged aesthetics of erotica, where their bodies stopped being forms and became portals — untamed, insistent, untethered. In the book I paired their portraits with landscapes from my homeland, as a mutual meeting point, an understanding, or perhaps a departure.
