Created on the occasion of the exhibition Weltraum at the Albertinum in Dresden, this artist's book places four decades of Tillmans's practice in a thought-provoking dialogue with the past and present of East and West Germany. It intertwines excerpts from a 1987 Dresden inventory catalogue with Tillmans' 2003 catalogue for Tate Britain, in which he devised a speculative catalogue raisonné of his early work. The book also includes a conversation in which the artist looks back on his beginnings and discusses the aesthetic and social significance of those early years from today's vantage point.
