Productivity - Studio Rehearsals assembles a series of seven performances staged by Ramiro Guerreiro in his atelier in Lisbon and in the studio he later occupied in Berlin. In each of them the artist set up a camera with a timer: moving back and forth between the machine, to reset it, and the space of his performance, he becomes alternately the operator and the character of the scenes. The sequences nonetheless produce the impression of a natural flow, in which the interruptions caused by the mechanics disappear. Dressed in a grey lab coat, the character moves among papers, cloth, ladders and cardboard tubes in a workshop-like universe, carrying out with method and dedication tasks whose purpose remains an open question.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
