A celebrated photographer who played a pivotal role in documenting the music and entertainment culture in and around a West Coast city in the mid-1970s. Starting a career at the age of sixteen, quickly established a reputation for documenting the famous and infamous throughout that decade and into the early eighties: musicians and celebrities of the era all passed before the lens, an uncanny ability to capture the zeitgeist of the moment causing a sensation as the imagery cascaded across the pages of the major magazines of the day, revealing candid, behind-the-scenes shots of a lifestyle that defined an era. With the demise of that scene came an extended hiatus lasting almost twenty-five years; encouraged by friends and fans alike, the career resumed in 2010, shooting a new generation of musicians, models and celebrities with the same exuberance, insight and fun that defined the early work. Compiled together for the first time in print, this limited edition volume presents the recent work alongside historical images from the earlier portfolios.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
